Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Jai's self-hosted Discord bot running Red-DiscordBot and any custom cogs/features added to it (the "Bot") may collect, use, and store data.
1. Data the Bot May Receive
When the Bot is used in a Discord server, it may receive information from Discord that is necessary for commands and features to work, such as:
- Discord user IDs, server IDs, channel IDs, role IDs, and message IDs;
- command names, command arguments, interaction metadata, and timestamps;
- server configuration values set by administrators;
- moderation, utility, economy, logging, or other feature data depending on enabled cogs;
- message content only when a feature requires it and Discord permissions/intents allow it.
2. How Data Is Used
Data is used to operate Bot features, remember server settings, enforce permissions, provide moderation and utility functions, debug issues, prevent abuse, and maintain the Bot.
3. Data Storage
The Bot stores operational data in a PostgreSQL database on a self-hosted server controlled by the Bot owner. Some logs or backups may also exist for maintenance, debugging, or recovery. Access is limited to the Bot owner and authorized administrators of the host system.
4. Data Sharing
The Bot owner does not sell Bot data. Data may be shared only when required to operate the Bot, comply with legal obligations, investigate abuse/security issues, or when Discord/server administrators can already access the relevant information through Discord or Bot commands.
5. Data Retention
Data is retained for as long as needed to provide Bot features, maintain server configuration, resolve disputes, debug problems, or keep backups. Data may be deleted when it is no longer needed, when the Bot leaves a server, or upon a valid deletion request where feasible.
6. Your Choices and Deletion Requests
You may request deletion of data associated with you or your server by contacting the Bot owner. Some data may be impossible to identify without Discord IDs, may have already been deleted, may remain in backups for a limited period, or may be retained where needed for security, moderation integrity, or legal reasons.
7. Security
Reasonable measures are used to protect stored Bot data, including local database access controls and limited server access. No system is perfectly secure, and no guarantee of absolute security is provided.
8. Children's Privacy
The Bot is intended for use through Discord and is subject to Discord's age requirements. The Bot is not intended to knowingly collect information from anyone who is not permitted to use Discord.
9. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the Bot after changes are posted means you acknowledge the updated policy.
